    Gabriel Etrata

Gabriel Etrata is a Filipino-American, DJ/turntablist spinning Hip-Hop, R&B, and House. A native of NYC, he is currently based in Queens.

His journey as a DJ is rooted in his background playing guitar, bass, piano, and drums. His favorite artists growing up include Jimi Hendrix, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beastie Boys, Rage Against the Machine, The Beatles, Tame Impala, J. Dilla, and NaS.

His multi-instrumentalist background led him to music production where he developed an interest in sample-based, beat making, and eventually DJing/turntablism.

The key moment he attributes to his development as a DJ is his attendance at the 2019 Goldie Awards. Witnessing the battle and the routines of legendary X-Executioners, Rob Swift and Mista Sinista, inspired him to pick up 1200s, records, and a mixer the following week. He continues to train in turntablism, receiving mentorship from Rob Swift's Brolic Army DJ School, and hopes to compete in a battle one day.

He can be found spinning at various venues and events across NYC.

In addition to music, Gabriel Etrata is a multidisciplinary artist and does work in photo/video. He is a member of BARANGAY (@barangay.co), an international creative collective based in New York City.
